Assisting Shannon Fagan?

Has anyone here ever assisted NY photographer Shannon Fagan? How was it? He is coming to the Detroit / Ann Arbor area and is looking for assistants. It sounds like the shoot might be pretty big. It is a week and a half long shoot. How is this person to work with?

They are paying $10/hour. Is this common for assistants to be hired at an hourly rate instead of a day rate? This is... [More]

Photographer needed 4/28/06 in Richmond, VA

A guy that I have shot sports photography for is in need of photographers this Friday, April 28th to shoot posed pictures for a LARGE local baseball/softball league. (And I am going to be in Denver!) Their original date got rained out and the rescheduled time is a shorter block, so he needs like double the photographers.

If any of you are in the area and are interested, let me know... [More]

Magnum Essays

I just found a pretty cool site that has photo essays by Magnum photographers. Gorgeous photos with broad implications... I found it all really interesting.

Eastern Fox Squirrel

Finally got a shot of squirrel that I think I'll keep. These things are all over the place in our area of IL. The ones in my back yard are getting used to me, and love to tease the dog.

Northern Flicker

Of the Yellow Shafted variety. There are a mating pair in my back yard. They decided to excavate a new burrow in an old snag. Going to wait and see if they can do battle with the squirrels in the neighborhood.

Fishing Coop

White Pelicans do not dive like Brown Pelicans, but they do fish cooperatively. Here you can see them circling and plunging for fish in the middle. I have a few shots in which all their heads are under water but the top one had more visual interest for me.

I'll post the other as well and you can tell me what you think.

American White Pelican In IL

This is the second time this year I have spotted White Pelicans in strange places. The first time was in Lake County FL while I was visiting my folks. The second time was today. I had spotted them flying in last week and thought it must have been a few transients. But today, while I was sitting in the dentist chair of all places, I spotted a rather large group orbiting the Rock River.... [More]

Blue Heron

Got this at a park in northern Virginia. Used a 300mm and got way closer than I thought I would have.
